More questions?

  • What are the morning sessions and evening programs like?
    • A variety of elements such as Bible/Worldview teaching, group singing, prayer, sword drills, and trivia are normally included throughout the event. Some of the Bible/Worldview teaching times are geared towards fathers and older teens and some are geared more towards younger teens and boys. Our goal is for you to have an intentional weekend with your son and the teaching is designed to help that to happen! While most fathers and sons attend all of the teaching times, you are welcome to adjust your attendance of morning sessions and evening programs to your needs.
  • What’s the age range for fathers and sons?
    • The retreat is for dads and sons of all ages — including grandfathers! We have seen boys as young as age 4, but typically age 7 through early 20s is most common. (There’s no minimum or maximum age.)
  • I have more than one son — can I bring all of them with me?
    • Yes! We have many dads who bring multiple sons with them.
  • Are there any scholarships available?
    • Yes! We have a special discounted rate (50% off the full price) for boys who do not have a father in their lives. If the Lord has placed a young man in your life who does not have a father and you would like to bring them to the retreat, just email fatherson@chec.org to request this special discount code.
  • Can I bring my son with special needs?
    • Sure! All the activities are great for dads and sons to participate in together, and the schedule is flexible so you can take a break if needed.
  • Is there medical care available onsite?
    • There will be a medical professional available for injury/first aid.
  • Can I drive my RV and park it there?
    • There is no camping or RV’ing allowed. Your registration fee includes eight meals (Thursday dinner – Sunday breakfast) and lodging, so enjoy!
  • What is lodging like?
    • The rooms vary in size and configuration. In most cases you can expect to be in a room with other fathers and sons. Rooms have bunk beds, queen beds, double beds, or a combination of both. Most rooms will have a private bathroom. Sheets, bedding, towels, and washcloths are provided. If you’d like to share a room with friends, leave a comment on your registration form and we will do our best to accommodate it.
  • Will we be able to dine with friends?
    • The camp has 3 dining halls and you will be assigned to the dining hall closest to your lodging. If you have friends that you’d like to enjoy meals with, leave a comment on your registration form and we will do our best to accommodate it.
  • Are meals provided?
    • Definitely! All meals are served family-style in the camp dining room. Bring your appetite!
  • I have special dietary restrictions. Can you accommodate my needs?
    • Yes; just let us know in the comments when you register, and we’ll alert the kitchen to your needs. (Gluten-free, dairy-free)
  • My wife and daughters are traveling with us. Is there a place they can stay?
    • The camp lodges are reserved for fathers and sons, and there is no lodging available for rent for other groups.
  • How can I invite my friends?
    • Glad you asked! Just send them to this website and let them know what week you are registered for so they can join you!

Kids are so impressionable in their early years. If you are coming from out of state, this is an experience your son will remember for the rest of his life! Take the time dads, get away and be present in your son’s life.
